What is From Education to Occupation by Teachers Unite (FEOT)?

FEOT is a monthly meeting hosted by Teachers Unite.  Like a discussion group, FEOT is a space for educators to educate themselves in social justice matters from the classroom to the community and move to take action in their classroom and communities.  FEOT themes are always consistent with Teachers Unite core value of building relationships among educators, students, and community members to fight for social justice.

2012 FEOT Themes

Discipline Code and School Communities (January 27)

The Art of Restorative Justice and Peacemaking Circles in the Classroom (February 10)

Sexual Harassment: Teach to the Streets (March 9)

Organizing Teachers: Strategies for Community Collaboration  (April 13)

Do I have required readings to join?

No, FEOT is not a book club! However, for those who are interested, relevant articles will be provided at www.teachersunite.net under tab labeled FEOT.  FEOT will have a facilitator who is an expert on the topic and in the field to share major content.  Please feel free to talk from your own experience and share stories as an educator in East Brooklyn!
